The Kevin Kuczo Memorial Fund has awarded a $100,000 grant to the Psychology and Behavioral Neuroscience Department at Fairfield University. The money will go toward student achievement and faculty-student research projects that focus on pressing mental health issues.
The donation, announced through the Kevin's Afterglow initiative, aims to honor the memory of Kevin Kuczo by supporting work that addresses critical challenges in mental health. Officials say the funds will help students gain hands-on experience while working alongside faculty on meaningful studies.
The department plans to use the grant to expand research opportunities for undergraduates, particularly in areas like anxiety, depression, and behavioral disorders. Faculty members will mentor students through these projects, giving them a chance to contribute to real-world solutions.
University leaders praised the gift, noting that it strengthens the department's ability to tackle mental health problems that affect many communities. The funding will also support scholarships and other resources for students pursuing careers in psychology and neuroscience.
Kevin's Afterglow, the organization behind the donation, continues to focus on mental health awareness and support in memory of Kuczo. This latest contribution marks a significant boost for Fairfield's program, which already has a strong reputation for combining teaching with research.
