Defining Coolness: Six Traits That Stand Out

What makes someone cool? In a new study, marketing professor Caleb Warren and his colleagues surveyed 6,000 people from all over the world about what makes a person a trendsetter. They all agreed on six key traits that define coolness.

The research revealed that confidence is paramount; individuals who exude self-assuredness tend to be perceived as more appealing. Authenticity also plays a significant role, with respondents valuing those who are true to themselves and their beliefs. A sense of humor emerged as another essential trait, as people enjoy being around those who can make them laugh and lighten the mood.

Additionally, empathy was highlighted as a crucial characteristic, suggesting that being able to understand and relate to others enhances one's cool factor. Open-mindedness was also recognized; individuals who embrace diverse perspectives are often seen as more interesting and relatable. Lastly, creativity rounded out the list, with innovative thinkers capturing the admiration of their peers. These six traits collectively paint a picture of what it means to be considered "cool" in today's society.
